Organization
The United Union of Roofers, Waterproofers and Allied Workers was
chartered in 1903. Local #96 was chartered May 20th, 1929 and serves
Southeastern Minnesota.
Nature of Trade
The removal and/or applications of various roof systems including
waterproofing, dampproofing and the commercial /residential industry.
Complete asphalt and roof applications of vapor barriers when required,
insulation application, tapers systems, crickets, cants, applying
and cutting all types of roofing and asphalt and or pitch membrane,
asphalt applications. The knowledge of all E.P.D.M. and P.V.C. and
torch modified systems. Applying the elastomers or plastimer membrane;
applications of all detail work such as flashing and all penetrations
; anchoring and terminations.
Formal Training
The apprenticeship program is 6000 hours of on the job training,
plus completion of 3 phases of related training for advancement
to journeyperson. The acceptance of applications is based upon the
need for and the availability of work.
